Howdy Neighbors
Our 17 acre farm sits in upstate, NY in a small agricultural community called Buskirk. Most folks don’t think of country when they think of New York but the upstate area is ranked as the 5th highest producer of dairy in the country and is considered one the leading states in agriculture overall. 98% of New York farms are family owned and operated so we feel very blessed to be in with such a wonderful group of people.
We’re the Skipp family, first generation farmers looking to live a healthier more sustainable life. We produce wool, artisan products and produce from our small farm and hope to expand in the future. My husband, Joe has been a farrier (trims and shoes horses) for the last 20 years, he enjoys woodworking and building acoustic guitars. I write songs and sing at our local church and my hobbies a FAR too numerous to mention. We’re both passionate about Jesus and sharing and showing His love in our community.
We currently have 6 horses, 18 sheep, 5 ducks, 4 goats, and 2 dogs living their best lives. We started off with just 2 goats and decided we needed a few more… and now we’re here. We do everything on the farm by hand, from gathering eggs to spinning wool into yarn and everything in between. We hope to continue doing what we love and in turn inspiring others to live a life spent in God’s creation, to appreciate every beautiful moment, to work hard until the sun goes down and to be the first ones to rise with it the next day.
We hope you’ll continue to follow along as we add more content to our site, be sure to check out our Sundays On The Farm Blog, our once weekly devotionals inspired by Jesus, country living and sheep. Thanks for stopping by neighbor, we hope to see you again soon.
